Why did you join Dowling & Yahnke Wealth Advisors?

I joined Dowling & Yahnke because of their reputation of excellence and integrity within the wealth advising industry.  The firm has practiced these values for over thirty years.  I am so thankful to be a part of D&Y and I’m excited to further learn and contribute to this first-class firm.

What inspired you to work in the financial industry?

The topics of finance, geopolitics, economics, and law have always been natural interests of mine.  Combining those interests with the interpersonal behavior of people creates a story that is more than just numbers or text on a page.  I truly enjoy developing deep client relationships that help me understand the internal and external components of a given client’s situation and solving complex problems.  This industry is both challenging and rewarding and encourages life-long learning and continuous advancement, which always keeps work enthralling.

I love helping clients with…

Discovering and working toward their goals.  Whether it is short-term or long-term, personal or financial, it is the holistic nature of this job is the part I enjoy the most.  To be able to help clients feel rest assured in their given situation is always a priority of mine with thoroughly researched, intelligent, and time-tested financial strategies.

What is your favorite place in San Diego? Why?

My favorite place within San Diego is either Windansea Beach or Kate Sessions Park.  I’ve spent a substantial amount of my time growing up here in San Diego at Windansea on the beach or in the waves.  Kate Sessions Park, in my opinion, has the best view of San Diego and I always enjoy taking my dogs there or having a picnic with friends.

What is your favorite hobby?  Why?

My favorite hobbies are anything that allows me to be outdoors and active – beach volleyball, camping, biking, hiking, horseback riding, and swimming.  San Diego is special in that anyone can participate in their outdoor hobbies year-round, and I try to take advantage of this as much as possible!

What is your personal motto or mantra?  Why?

I have two that I hold close to my heart.  The first is from a Mary Oliver poem, “Tell me, what is it you plan do with your one wild and precious life?”  These words always remind me to embrace a grateful life full of authenticity, intention, and a passion for adventure.

The other is the Finnish word and concept of “Sisu.”  Sisu is the essence of stoic determination, tenacity of purpose, grit, bravery, resilience, and hardiness all combined into a single word.  The concept is integral to Finnish culture as a whole and has been passed down to me through my father and late grandmother.
